Sarg was that rock solid older vet that kept an eye on all of us 19 and 20 year old kids. I expect that he's keeping an eye on Heavens Gate as part of his eternal reward. Those of you who were fortunate enough to be a member of his family will never grieve alone.

SGT Junious was one of the most memorable individuals among the many fine soldiers I served with in Vietnam. He was a true happy warrior, an inspiration and steady hand during trying times. His wisdom, courage, and kindness will never be forgotten by those who had the honor to serve with him. I would pray that God bless and keep my old comrade but then God knows him well enough by now.

I was so surprised to receive a call today from Sergeant Junious' family informing me of his passing. It's terribly sad to hear that our old friend has left us. At the same time, it warmed my heart knowing that even after more than 44 years, his family would reach out to call me and share with me personally the news of his passing. It was a very warm, sad and humbling experience. There is no way I can put into words how special you made me feel.

As I spoke today with Sergeant Junious granddaughter, I reassured her that her grandfather was a very special person, not only to his family, but also to those of us who served with him in combat as well.

In Viet Nam, the eldest male in a home was referred to as "Papa San". Sergeant Junious was OUR Papa San. He was the father figure that was missing in our lives while far away from home. He gave us reassurance and support when we needed it and direction at a time when life had no direction. He helped comfort us when we needed comforting and he always made time for those who just needed to talk. He was a soldier's soldier but he was also our Papa San. And we will all miss him.

To his entire family, please accept my most heartfelt condolences. It was a privilege and honor to know Sergeant Junious. He will forever be remembered. He was a special man.

The mere words in this posting will not be enough to express how I truly feel. Pops, you will be deeply missed. Having you in my life all these years has been a true blessing. You have loved me, my husband and my kids as if we were your own flesh and blood. Heaven has gained a true angel, and you can rest knowing that the works you have done will speak for you. Enjoy the fruits of your labor "boyfriend". I love you and I will miss you.

The direct meaning of a "MAN", I could go on and on , about his greatness, My godfather has been in my life since I was in the wound of my mother, and NOT once has he not kept his word.. Wake up calls every morning, "wake up babe, godfather I'm up!, No you not, put your feet on the floor!! lol, ok godfather , I'm up now!!!" I so love this man, and I appreciate everything he has done for me, No ONE will ever replace him. He had an Outstanding personality , a very humble heart, and a ease of giving to all... He will indeedly, and truly be missed... My heart and condolences are with his daughters and grandkids, I know what it feels like to lose a father.. Love always Brit...
