Garth Moran Funeral services for Garth Moran 90 of Palestine, will be held 10:00 AM Friday at First Baptist Church Elkhart with Bro. Bill Gernenz and Bro. Floyd Petersen officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine. Mr. Moran passed away December 31, 2012, in Palestine. He was born July 9, 1922 in Garland, to C.J. Moran Sr., and Ellen Sanders Moran. He was a long time coach for the Nederland Little League and Babe Ruth League, a four term mayor of Elkhart, board member of the Anderson County Crime Stoppers and faithfully delivered Meals on Wheels until the age of 89. Mr. Moran retired from Pure Oil/Unocal in Nederland as a Process Operator with thirty-four years service, and was a member of First Baptist Church Elkhart. Mr. Moran was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife Mary Dell Moran and 2nd wife Sybil Bartee Moran. He is survived by daughter Connie Nicholas of Nederland and Wayne Dial of Groveton, son John Mark Moran and wife Susan of Lumberton, granddaughter Aimee Nicholas Slott and husband Ryan of Nederland, great grandson Cooper Slott of Nederland, great granddaughter Camryn Ann Slott of Nederland, and brother C.J. Moran, Jr., of Elkhart. Condolence calls will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Bailey & Foster Palestine. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Elkhart, P.O.
