Gene N. Morrell, 72, of Warren, passed away, Thursday, January 23, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Campground Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26th from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Gene was born September 30, 1941 to Phalcon & Evie Haskins Morrell in Lufkin. He was retired from Local 450 with 33 years service and 10 years service from Quest Communications. He loved the Little League Baseball Organization in Tyler County. Gene was a strong man who raised doves & quail, enjoyed being in the outdoors and he loved his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phalcon & Evie Morrell; brothers, W.L. Morrell & Van Allen Morrell; two daughters, Paula Jean Morrell & Kelly Ann Morrell; and granddaughters, Jordan Jade Largent & Emma Brooke Morrell. Gene is survived by his wife of 34 years, Melva Jean Morrell of Warren; son, Jeromy Lee Morrell and wife, Miranda of Woodville and their sons, Garrett, Grant, Briar & Brady; daughters, Pamela Best & husband, Richard of Colmesneil and their children, Samantha & Jason; Tammy Jean Reynolds & husband, James of Warren and their daughters, Sydney & Madison; brothers, J.P. Morrell & wife, Margie of Denver, CO, Herbert Morrell & wife, Izzie of Woodville, Wesley Morrell of San Antonio; sisters, Bell Harvey of Colmesneil and Louise Faircloth & husband, Billy of Colmesneil; 4 grandchildren, Rodney Bowen, Jr., Hope Bowen, Macy Dubose & Josie Jeffcoat; 7 great grandchildren, and 3 Godsons.
