1930-2015 Born October 20, 1930, he later attended Wharton Junior College, married his sweetheart, Melba Allred, in 1953 and entered the U.S. Army shortly thereafter. Upon his return, he began a career with Mobil Oil that took him to Beaumont, Texas and lasted for 39 years. Although he played tennis in college, golf was his sport, which he played avidly until last year. His favorite course was Bentwater, where he and Melba enjoyed living for 26 years. George was a great dancer and singer and loved a party. A man who had a profound relationship with his God, he gave his heart to those he loved and many more who needed a helping hand, including the Boy Scouts of America, Goodwill, and Salvation Army. Truitt William and Cora Lee Geyer, his parents, and his son, Steven Mark Geyer, preceded him in death. His life will be celebrated by his wife of 61 years, Melba Louise Allred Geyer, his daughter, Gena Geyer Sylvester, his sister Rita Beth Pugh, grandson Jonathan Sylvester, step-grandson Mike Sylvester, step-great grandson Ryan Sylvester and his niece and nephews. Friends are invited to join their celebration on Friday, June 5th at 10:30 a.m. It will be held in the chapel at Parkway Place, 1321 Park Bayou Dr., Houston, Texas. A brief reception will take place afterward. Our precious Papa will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery. Many thanks go to Parkway Place, Buckner Hospice, Executive Care and the staff at Hermann Memorial Hospital at Memorial City who assisted in his last days with us. Join us in celebration by donating to a service that will lift the spirits of others.
