David Gordon Burgess, 62, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was born on February 21, 1951, to Nyda Elleine Lash Burgess and Gordon Calvin Burgess, in Cleveland, Ohio. David is a United States Marine Corps veteran having served in Vietnam. He was the self proclaimed Mayor of Amelia Avenue. David was a perfectionist who enjoyed fixing up around the house and a practical joker. He was helpful, loving, caring, and loved his grandson. Survivors include his wife, Lesley Mary Burgess; children, Heather Mary Burgess-Kirk and her husband, Brian Kent Kirk and Christopher James Burgess, all of Beaumont; grandson, Cameron David Burgess; soon to be granddaughter, Cera Mary Kirk; brothers, Steve Robert Burgess and his wife, Joyce Elizabeth, of Zephyrhills, Florida; sisters, Tresa Louise Lawson and her husband, Jerry Wolfy, of Madison, Ohio and Tami Katheryn Bolesic of Painesville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews along with great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nydan Gallitto, Joyce Burgess, and Janet Burgess; and brother, Jeffry Burgess. A gathering of Mr. Burgess' family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Broussard's. A family committal will be held at Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont.
