Harold Simmons, 82, of Buna died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, at First United Methodist Church in Buna with burial at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Buna. Visitation will be Monday, April 28, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Robert Simmons, Justin Simmons, Clint Stimits, Brant Stimits, Dru LeBlanc, Mickey Metz and Steven Wheeler. A native of San Augustine, Texas, he had lived in Buna since 1946. Harold graduated from Lamar College in 1956 in the first four year graduating class with a Bachelors Degree and spent the next 36 years teaching and coaching in Kirbyville and Buna schools. He received his Masters of Education in 1977. He retired from teaching in 1992 and was elected Justice of the Peace in Buna in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kay Simmons of Buna; brothers, Charles Simmons and Nancy of Buna and James Simmons and Linda of Victoria; sister, Lydia Bassar and Grady of San Antonio; brother-in-law, Kenneth Cobb and Ellie of La Grange and numerous nieces and nephews.
