Shelton Rutledge, 88, of Beaumont, died Monday, September 2, 2013, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on August 1, 1925, to Mamie Yoast Shelton and Taylor Shelton, Sr., in Beaumont, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Hazel was a graduate of South Park High School and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the focus of her life. Survivors include her daughters, Mildred Morgan of Beaumont; Martha Williams and her husband, Doug, of Waco; and Marlene Jennis and her husband, Mike, of Pinewood; son-in-law, Harry Morgan of Vidor; grandsons, Brady Alexander, Noel Williams, Preston Williams, Taylor Williams, Michael Morgan, and Robert Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Williams, Callie Williams, Caroline Williams, Christian Williams, Clayton Williams, and Maylin Alexander. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Rutledge; and brother, T.J. Shelton, Jr. A gathering of Mrs. Rutledge's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday September 4, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
