Helen Louise Richard, 92, of Port Arthur, TX died Tuesday, January 01, 2013. Helen was born July 19, 1920 in Oakdale, LA to Nathaniel and Marie Johnson. She was a longtime resident of the Port Arthur and Beaumont area. She resided at Serenity House in Port Arthur the last 3 yrs. Helen was a wonderful homemaker and was a blessing to all her family and friends. She was very talented in needlework. Her most recent hobby was making and dressing dolls. Survivors include, daughter, Deborah Pigg and her husband, Gary; son, LeRoy Tate and his wife, Alice; grandchildren, Michelle Kennedy, Angela Prince, Kenneth Prince, Bonnie Prince, Theron Tate, Shaun Tate, Kelly Tate, Brandi Borne, James Northcutt, John Austin Pigg, and Chelsea Flitcraft; 20 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Austin Richard; daughter, Barbara Thibedeaux; grandson, Karl Prince; great-grandsons, Tanner Tate and Alex VonFeldt. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon's Funeral Home in Nederland on Friday, January 4, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5th at the funeral home with interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Port Arthur, TX.
