Isabel Meza Gonzales, 93, was born November 19, 1918, in Beaumont, to Mariano S. & Hesiquia Rodriguez Meza, and passed away May 30, 2012, at her residence. Mrs. Gonzales worked from 1943 - 1945, during World War II, at Pennsylvania Shipyard in Beaumont, as a welder. She then continued working as a welder at Bethlehem Steel in Beaumont from 1967 - 1984, prior to retiring. A gathering of friends and family will take place at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home, Friday, June 1, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, at 10:00 a.m., at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 767 Avenue A, Beaumont, with interment following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Mrs. Gonzales is survived by her son, Edward Gonzales III and his significant other, Mitzi J. Altersberger; daughter, Vivian M. Gore; granddaughter, Teresa Gore; sister, Carmen M. O'Shea; nieces, Kathryn Hernandez-Roeder, Dolores O'Shea, Patricia O'Shea Hardy, and Denise O'Shea Guerrero; nephews, Jerry O'Shea and Alan O'Shea; 5 great nieces; 1 great- great niece and 1 great- great nephew She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gonzales Jr.; her parents; brothers, Augustine, Marion, Julian, Cecilio, and Pedro Meza; sisters, Juanita R. Hernandez and Mariana Meza. The family would like to express special thanks to Gloria Boseman, Hazel and Clayton Haynes, and Lashanda and Jericho White, for their care and attention to Mrs. Gonzales.
