J. D. Chester, 84, of Vidor, Texas, passed away October 22, 2012, at his home. He was born on December 20, 1927, in Nederland, Texas, to the late Marvin D. and Ioma Butchee Chester. He retired from Sun Oil Company, where he was a service contractor and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nederland. J. D. served his country proudly in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Nederland Masonic Lodge #1368 for over 30 years and also a member of the Shriners. Funeral services will be held at Melancon's Funeral Home in Nederland on Friday, October 26, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Ernest Brown, officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. J. D. is survived by his wife, Dell Chester of Vidor; daughters, Rebecca Chester of Houston and Joanna Aimonetti and husband, Dave of Plano; son, James D. Chester, II of Victoria; sister, Eileen Newman of Nederland; and granddaughter, Isabella Aimonetti. The family would like to especially thank his caregivers, Odyssey Hospice and Nellie Steele.
