Honorable Jimmy Mack Hopson, 55 of Wiergate, Texas died on June 1, 2013 at his residence. He was born on Feb. 28, 1958 in Hemphill, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Newton County. He had been employed by Newton County for over 20 years, the past 11 years as justice of the Peace, Pre. 3 and the previous 8 years and a deputy. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Hopson of Wiergate, daughters, Amanda Blank and husband, Glenn of Jasper and Jessica Hopson of Wiergate, grandchildren, Ravyn, Allison, Mackinzi and expecting Hadlee in August, sister, Sheila Hopson and Joey of Lumberton, brothers, Charles Ben Hopson and wife, Sue of Roganville, Tx, Wayne Hopson and wife, Betty of Wiergate and James Hopson and wife, Gayle of Scrappin Valley, step-mother, Velma Hopson of Rayburn, sister-in-law, Gena Freeman of Woodville, lifelong best friend, James Campbell Jr. of Hemphill and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Avil Hopson, brother, Richard Hopson, sister, Jean Shelton and nephew, Dustin Moore. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home in Newton. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 4, 2013 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Newton with burial to follow at Week's Chapel Cemetery.
