1953 - 2016 Joel A. Joe Coward, Jr., 63, of Woodville, passed away, Monday, September 26, 2016 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 29, 2016 at10 a .m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Antioch Cemetery near Woodville. Officiating will be Brother Jack Lewellen and Richard Coward. Serving as pallbearers will be Earl Creamer, Jerry Best, Steve Butz, Paul Eaves, Cesar Besttie, and Billy Irvin. Joe was born August 5, 1953 to Joel A. Sr. & Louise Hollister Coward in Beaumont, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Tyler County and was a retired self employed master cabinet maker. He had served in the National Guard and was a member of Beech Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He played with the Southern Spirit Quartet for thirteen 1/2 years. He loved helping people and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a humble man who wanted to do the good in the world that God intended for him to do. He was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Grissom and father, Joel A. Coward, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nan Coward of Woodville; daughter, D'Renda Machetta & husband, Gary of Houston; sons, Joel Avon Coward, III & wife, Jennifer Elizabeth of Chatanooga, TN and Chris Coward & wife, Sarah of Woodville; mother, Louise Coward of Woodville; sister, Sherilyn Livingston of Woodville; grandchildren, Dougles Syzdek, Madisyn Syzdek, Iris Machetta, Katrina Machetta, Courtney Coward, Taylor Coward, Madison Taylor, Luke Taylor, Joey Coward, and Chelsie Coward..
