1955 - 2014 Lance Wood, age 58, died in a car accident on Thursday, October 16, 2014, in Lumberton, Texas. Robert Lance Wood was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on November 29, 1955, to Lois Ann Smith Wood and Robert John Wood. Lance was an avid outdoorsman with a love of both hunting and fishing. He was an excellent provider and hard worker who was employed with Brock Enterprises at ExxonMobil. Such a selfless man, always putting the needs of others first, Lance was a Jack of all trades, and Master of more. As the greatest Dad, he would always teach his children with a life lesson to prepare them for that great big world. Lance's family considered him to be a master chef who truly enjoyed grilling too. Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife, Cathy Wood of Lumberton; children, Troy Noel of Bridge City, Holly Wood, Gabriel Wood and Trinity Wood, all of Lumberton; grandchildren, Aiden and Jacob Noel; parents, Robert Bob and Lois Wood of Lumberton; sister, Julie Birdsong and husband, Roy, of Port Neches; and brothers, Roy Wood and wife, Amy, and Todd Wood and wife, Karen, all of Lumberton; nephews Cody and Casey Wood of Denton, Regan Kitcher of Beaumont, Nigel and Cade Wood of Lumberton and Logan Birdsong of Port Neches. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at the Lumberton Family Funeral Home. Life honoring services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Loeb, near Lumberton, Texas, with the Pastor Ray McNames officiating.
