1925 - 2015 Laura Chance Loftin, 90, went to be with her Lord and Maker, Saturday, December 12, 2015. She was a descendant of the Chance Family who were settlers in Hardin County, Texas in the 1800's. She was born April 13, 1925 at home in the Chance Community to her parents, Clyde and Maude Chance. She was baptized in the Village Creek. She married young, went to California and became one of the historic Rosie the Riveters who were the foundation of our homeland military workforce during WWII. She enjoyed hunting and fishing at her camp on Village Creek and anything outdoors, even working in the fields. She also loved tending her own yard with her little dog at her side. She lived in Apple Springs, near Lufkin, Texas until recently, then relocated to Conroe, Texas, due to ill-health, to live with her daughter, Paula and son-in-law, Richard McCants. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Clyde Loftin; parents, Clyde and Maude Chance; brothers, Kelsey Chance, Pope Chance and a son, Lloyd Harrison. She is survived by her son, Ron Harrison of Lumberton; daughter, Paula McCants and husband Richard of Conroe; sister, Beris Singleton of Beaumont; granddaughter, Jeana and Erica and several nieces and nephews. The family will be gathering at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A private graveside for the family will follow at Hooks Cemetery in Kountze, officiated by Reverend Douglas Rathgeber.
