Leland Emmett Waldrep, 86, of Lumberton, died Friday, November 1, 2013, in Beaumont, TX. He was born on November 15, 1926, in Port Arthur, Texas to Grover Cleveland Waldrep and Eula Ivy Garrett Waldrep, and was a longtime resident of Lumberton. Leland, a member of the American Legion, was a veteran of WWII serving as a member of the Army Air Corps. Leland was an avid gardener, and he enjoyed throughout his life growing a wide array of plants, including many different fruits and vegetables. Many knew him for his green thumb. He loved watching his great-grandkids play football and also enjoyed playing dominos himself. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth Waldrep and sister Eula Mae Waldrep. Left to cherish his memory are; his beloved wife, Juanita Nita Garner Waldrep, sons, Mike Waldrep and Allan Waldrep, Don Grisham and Bobby Grisham, daughter, Carol Cavett, 14 wonderful grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. A gathering of Mr. Leland Waldrep's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, LLC on Monday, November 4th, with his funeral service at 1:00 p.m.., Tuesday, November 5th, 2013, at Woodcrest United Methodist Church, 1684 Highway 96 S, Lumberton, TX with a traditional Christian burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, TX.
