A native of Post, TX and a former resident of San Benito, TX in the Rio Grande Valley he had lived the past 19 years in Jasper. Lloyd D. Beasley wanted to make a difference with his life. When he was 8 years old, his father died and he grew up without a father. Maybe that is why he decided to leave Shell Oil company to become the father figure to hundreds of children at Sunny Glenn Children's Home, Cherokee Children's Home and Central Texas Children's Home. Lloyd and his beloved wife Lela never considered working at children's homes a sacrifice. Making a difference in the life of a child was a privilege and a joy. Luke 2:52 says in talking about Jesus.,. and he grew in stature, and in wisdom and in favor with God and man. That is the motto that Lloyd Beasley tired to instill in every child he had the opportunity to influence. Survivors include two sons Louis D. Beasley & wife Lisa of Watauga, TX & Sam D Beasley & wife Carol of Ridgeland, MS; two daughters Edie Hendrickson & husband Mike of Jasper & Dottie Vinzant & husband James of Justin, TX; brother Sam Don Beasley & wife Jeanie of Batesville, AR; two sisters Thelma Powell of Rifle, CO & Linda Speights & husband Doug of Austin, TX; eight grandchildren & fifteen great grandchildren.
