Lowell Mason Head, 91, of Beaumont, passed away on June 1, 2013 at Summer Place Nursing Facility. Lowell had an interest in advancing medical studies and has donated his body to Texas A&M University School of Medicine. Service arrangements are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory. Lowell was born to Olin and Onna (Wyatt) Head, in Mena, Arkansas. He received a diploma from LaSalle Extension University for General Accounting in 1966. He used his accounting skills to help supplement his income and was recognized an outstanding volunteer for AARP and the state of New Mexico for assisting the elderly and under privileged with their taxes. He was a charter member of the Toastmasters International in 1977. Lowell held many jobs throughout his life but they were only to help support him and his wife while pursuing his passion of preaching the gospel. He was an avid reader and loved books about church history. He retired from the pulpit in 2007 at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his wife Lena. Survivors include his siblings: Noel Lee Head of Mena, Arkansas, Betty Ruth Corder of Beaumont, Lewis Wayne Head of Cave City, Arkansas, and H. Eugene Head of La Feria, Texas. After moving to Beaumont, Texas in 2009, he has been attending the Major Drive Church of Christ. A memorial service will be held in his honor Friday, June 7, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Christ Covenant Church, 6390 N. Major Dr. in Beaumont, Texas.
