Lucie Jean Belt Carpenter Brumley, 86, of Silsbee, went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 25, 2013. She was born on June 4, 1926, in Oakdale, Louisiana, to Cloye Taylor Belt and Morris A. Belt. Lucie loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, her family and her church. She served faithfully and taught Sunday School for over 60 years in her church homes - FBC, Silsbee; Fletcher Emanuel Baptist Church, Southpoint and Journey Community Church in Lumberton. Her lifestyle was not depicted by a religion, but by a true example of Christ Himself because of the love and compassion she amplified to others. She lived her life as the Virtuous Wife described in Proverbs 31. Survivors include her husband, John D. Brumley; children, Bert Sonny Carpenter and his wife, Martha, of Silsbee; Ron Carpenter of Kountze; and Gayle McClusky and her husband, Kevin, of Silsbee; grandchildren, Christy Baldwin and her husband, Parker, of Cameron, Texas; Kimberly Soileau and her husband, Lee, of Lumberton; Cody Carpenter of Silsbee; Bridget Graf of Kountze; Matthew McClusky and his wife, Courtney, of Lumberton; and Andrew McClusky of Silsbee; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Vincent of Beaumont; Bette Anne Sadler and her husband, Jim, of Maryland; and Alice Castilaw and her husband, John, of Warren. The family wishes to thank the devoted caregivers who provided comfort and dignity to her life - Sharon Welch, Hula Moss, Dorothy DeMary, Nina Benfield and Jean Bertrand and to Harbor Hospice for being with Lucie and her family in the last days of her journey. She is preceded in death by her parents; previous husband, Bertram E. Carpenter; brother, Morris Bud Belt; and sister, Letha Price.
