James Jimmy Porter Mahlon Porter, Jr., 59, of Nederland, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 6, 1953, to Ava Nell and Mahlon James Porter, Sr., in Wiltshire, England, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Jimmy worked for thirty-five years with Asbestos Local # 22, before his retirement. He was an avid fisherman who loved the beach and will be remembered as an excellent craftsman and carpenter. Jimmy is survived by his wife of twenty years, Leanna Porter; daughters, Jennifer Allen and her husband, Bobby and Jaimie Porter, all of Port Neches; stepdaughter, Susan Tibbetts and her husband, Scott, of Kingwood; stepsons, Mike Erickson and his wife, Lisa, of Katy; Eric Erickson and his wife, Mendy, of Nederland; and Steven Erickson and his wife, Kristina, of Kingwood; brother, John Porter, Sr. and his wife, Hanane, of Nederland; sister, Linda Stewart and her husband, Bill, of Lumberton; three grandchildren; and fourteen step- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and stepdaughter, Lori Lyman. A gathering of Mr. Porter's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Christian Vigil to begin at 6:00 p.m., Monday, April 29, 2013, at Broussard's, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
