Margaret Mary Spanihel Koehl, 84, formerly of Hamshire, died Monday, January 28, 2013, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on September 11, 1928, in Hallettsville, to Joe and Mary Spanihel. Fifty-five years ago Margaret and her husband, Eugene moved to Hamshire with Texas Gulf Sulphur making it their home. Margaret worked as a cafeteria manager for Hamshire-Fannett Independent School District, was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church, and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Daughters. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Jannise and her husband Tommy, of Anahuac, and Janice Sowell and her husband, Rodney of Fannett; sister, Josephine Bacak and her husband, Allen of El Campo; sister-in-law, Mildred Spanihel of Louise; grandchildren, Shelly Duke, Daina Cook, Becky Sowell, Steven Jannise, and Carrie Villemez; great-grandchildren, Paige and Macie Duke; Mally, Carley and Emily Cook; Jared and Aimee Jannise; Garret and Kaylie Villemez; and numerous relatives and friends. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Koehl; and daughter, Cindy Koehl. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Broussard's, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, with visiting to follow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday,January 31, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
