Martha Cooper Funeral services for Martha Cooper, 87, of Brookeland will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, with burial to follow at the Brookeland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, at the funeral home. A native of Louisiana and a former resident of Jefferson County, Martha was a longtime Brookeland, TX resident. A 1942 Co-Valedictorian of Stephen F. Austin High School in Port Acres, she also graduated from the Port Arthur Business Collage. After over 23 years as a Secretary, she retired from Neches Butane Products Company. Martha enjoyed sewing, knitting, embroidery, crocheting and tatting. Her family felt she was perfect in everything from piano playing to cooking and everything in between. She was a member of The Brookeland United Methodist Church for many years where she played the piano and was the past Church Secretary and Treasurer. She is survived by her husband of over twenty five years Jack Cooper of Brookeland; two sisters O'De Jacqueline Guthrie of Lumberton and Glenda Andrus and husband Andy of Vidor. She is also survived by a host of other family and friends. Martha, was preceded in death by her first husband Thomas Bruce Lowe; a brother James Harvey Dunn; two sisters Jimmie Faye Arledge and Loretta Guthrie.
