Martha Gayle Pecora Cameron, age 78, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at 8:30 p.m. with her children holding her hands. She was born in Beaumont, Texas on November 15, 1934 to Pearl Girolamo Pecora and Dr. Samuel Vincent Pecora. She lived her young life in Beaumont attending Averill Elementary, Dick Dowling Jr. High and graduated from Beaumont High School in 1953. She was a Princess in the Neches River Festival her senior year. She attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. It was at Southwestern University where she met and married her first husband, Bill Radetsky in 1955. They had two children from that union, Diane Radetsky and Blake Radetsky. Martha Gayle and Bill opened a restaurant in Garland, Texas called The Pasta Palace. She was well known for her Italian cooking and enjoyed not only cooking for the public but especially for her family and friends. No one ever went hungry when they were at Martha Gayle's house. She had been working on a cookbook full of her best Italian family recipes prior to her illness. Martha Gayle married John Cameron in 1971 and they spent 27 happy years in Crystal Beach on the Bolivar Peninsula where he was in business and she owned and operated a gift shop called Martha's Boutique. Martha Gayle and John loved the beach, crabbing and fishing. They moved to Austin in 2003 to be closer to her children. She suffered with COPD for many years, but even when she was wheelchair bound she was still able to cook for her grandsons and family's favorite meals and desserts for holidays and special occasions. She enjoyed grocery shopping, planning meals, hosting dinner parties, trying new recipes, playing poker, playing the slot machines at Louisiana casinos and visiting with friends. She was fun-loving, always the life of the party, with a great sense of humor who could tell a joke like no other. Martha Gayle was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great friend to many including The Club. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, John Cameron; daughter, Diane Radetsky of Austin; son, Blake Radetsky and wife Karen; grandsons, Cameron Radetsky and Hunter Radetsky all of San Antonio which were the joy in her life.
