Marvin Daniel Brandt, Sr., 87, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at Christus Dubuis Hospital of Beaumont. He was born on May 3, 1925, in Newton, Kansas, to Anna Friesen Brandt and Daniel C. Brandt, and had a been a longtime resident of the Beaumont area. Marvin was a proud United States Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre, and was a self-employed general contractor. He loved auto racing and racing with his friends and motorcycle riding. Marvin is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Vesta Brandt; children, Darlene Hansen and her husband, Wayne, of Floresville; Danny Brandt of Beaumont; and Suzy Brandt of San Antonio; grandchildren, Jeremiah Cortez; Jordan Cortez; Ashley Brandt; Amber Mavridis and her husband, Alex; Kevin Hansen and his wife, Ginger; Heather Hansen; and Alan Brandt; four great-grandchildren; brother, Lee Brandt of San Antonio; and nieces, Deanne Blackburn and her husband, Michael; Leslie Rucker; and Karen Capps and her husband, Fred. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, JoAnn Tremble. A gathering of Mr. Brandt's family and friends will begin at 3:00 p.m., with his memorial service to follow at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
