1931 - 2016 A celebration of Mary Helen Dickerson's life, age 85, of Jasper, will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. Mary Helen died July 26, 2016, in Jasper. A native of Newton County, She was a longtime Jasper Resident. A 1948 Graduate of Burkeville High School, where she was valedictorian, she completed her education at Sam Houston State University with a Master's in Education. Mary Helen retired from the Jasper ISD after 30 years as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher. She received great satisfaction in hearing former students express their appreciation for helping mold their lives. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, C.W. Dickerson; son, Robby Dickerson & wife Evelyn of Spring; brother-in-law, James H. Dickerson & wife Linda Ruth of New Braunfels; and nephews, Paul H. Dickerson of Houston, and Clifton Dickerson of Austin. Mary Helen was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruby Holmes. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Jasper at 314 N.
