1933 - 2015 Born July 25th 1933 in San Antonio, Texas, Mary Lynn was raised in Houston. Her parents, John Ernest and Hazel Hill, showered her with love and adoration as their only child. Mary Lynn graduated from the University of Houston and married Fred Bessell in June of 1955. She taught sixth grade in Port Bolivar and Deer Park while Fred attended Medical School in Galveston. They settled in Beaumont in 1963, where Fred practiced orthopedic surgery and Mary Lynn immersed herself in the role of being a mother, housewife, and active participant in many social and charitable organizations in the community. Mary Lynn earned the title of Master Gardener and was passionate about her Bonsai Trees. She also enjoyed cooking, snow skiing, fishing, and bird hunting with her husband, sons, good friends. She also enjoyed traveling with Fred in the early years of retirement. Mary Lynn bravely confronted the challenges of Alzheimer's during her final years. She passed in the evening of February 25, 2015, at Autumn Leaves Memory Care Center in Clear Lake, Texas. She is survived by her three boys, Keith Bessell and his wife, Karen, of Flower Mound; David Bessell and his wife, Wendy, of Friendswood; and Eric Bessell and his wife, Christa, of Valrico, Florida; nine grandchildren, Colin, Connor, Liam, Alex, Courtney, Ashley, Logan, Brandt, and Merrick; and two great-grandchildren. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday March 2, 2015, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 4090 Delaware Street, Beaumont, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. with family members at the family cemetery in Old Waverly Texas.
