1930 - 2014 Max Lee Fortenberry, 84, of Port Arthur, Texas died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. Max was born May 14, 1930 in Woodville, Texas to Vestal Fortenberry and Elsie Davis Fortenberry. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was a Rancher, former Co-Owner of Winnie Livestock Exchange and former Owner of Fortenberry Meat Market in Port Neches. Max was also a US Army Veteran. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Rev. Brian Johnson officiating and Rev. David Birdsong assisting. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the funeral home. Max was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Fortenberry and sister, Shirley Minter. Surviving relatives include his wife of 60 years, Joyce Fortenberry of Port Arthur, Texas; sons, Dr. Steve Fortenberry and wife Susan of Sugar Land, Texas; Kenny Fortenberry and wife Charlene of Port Neches, Texas; sisters, Jaunice Smith and husband Emson of Vidalia, Georgia; Peggy Grammer of Groveton, Texas; Pat Carter of Austin, Texas; brother, John Fortenberry and wife Keitha of Silsbee, Texas; brother-in-laws, Melburn Minter of Groveton, Texas; Bill Huff of Evadale, Texas; four granddaughters, Chanda Breaux and husband Jeremy, Alaina DeLaRosa, Victoria Fortenberry, and Emily Fortenberry, and six great grandchildren.
