May Dell Godwin Hudgins Dupuis, 86, of Groves, passed away peacefully at her home, Wednesday, October 10, 2012, with her husband and children by her side. She was born on December 17, 1925, in Long Cove, Texas, to Nollie and Enoch Godwin. May Dell was a graduate of Lometa High School and later attended Lamar University, where she received a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Speech Therapy. She was employed as a Speech Therapist for both Nederland and Huffman Independent School Districts, working a total of twenty-seven years. May Dell had a remarkable green thumb. Everything she touched would grow, including her grandchildren. She adored her butterfly garden and would spend hours telling you about their lives. Each year she would eagerly await the arrival of the Monarchs in her garden. May Dell loved to travel and even shared a memorable trip to Mexico with her husband, Paul, to witness the Monarch butterfly migration. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-six years, Paul Dupuis, Jr. of Groves; daughter, Fran Hudgins of Port Neches; sons, Richard Hudgins of Kountze and Paul Hudgins and his wife, Debra, of Nederland; stepdaughters, Diana Haralson of Warren; Deborah Hansen and her husband, Don, of Beaumont; and Donna Bridgers and her husband, Chris, of Nederland; sister, Beulah Holland of Marble Falls; brother, Ira Smitty Godwin of Tucson, Arizona; and grandchildren, Danielle, Erin, Sarah, Marissa, Richi, Beth, Jessica, Alicia, Brian, Christopher, Taylor, Jacob, and Jennifer. May Dell is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Glenna Mae Godwin Ross, Day Alva Godwin Trainer, Tiana Godwin Smith, Lillian M. Godwin Brown, and Ruth Godwin Godbury; and brother, Riley Alvin Godwin. A gathering of Mrs. Dupuis' family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 12, 2012, at Broussard's, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her graveside service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Long Cove Community Cemetery, Long Cove, Texas.
