Mercedes Patricia del Carmen Ledet, 47, of Beaumont, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, on September 8, 1964, to Guadalupe Reyna del Carmen and Aurelio Gomez del Carmen. Her family moved to Galveston in 1969 and then to Beaumont later that year. She graduated from Beaumont Charlton-Pollard High School in 1983 and later attended Lamar University. She married Joseph Clarence Ledet and from this union were born two children, Alfredo del Carmen Ledet and Armando Enrique del Carmen Ledet, both of Beaumont. Mercedes was an extremely active volunteer at St. Anne Catholic School and Msgr. Kelly Catholic High School and a proud supporter of both school athletics and religious growth. A dedicated parishioner of St. Anne Catholic Church, she loved participating in the activities and functions of the parish, especially youth activities. She cherished being able to be involved with Life Teen, Youth 2000, Teen A.C.T.S., and youth teen conferences. Mercedes was also employed with Spindletop MHMR/ ECI, working with children. In her love and faith, she served him on many A.C.T.S. retreats including a couple of Teen A.C.T.S. retreats. One of her many blessings was her ability to share her faith with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Aurelio G. del Carmen. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Clarence Ledet; two sons, Alfredo del Carmen Ledet and Armando Enrique del Carmen Ledet; mother, Guadalupe del Carmen; brother, Aurelio del Carmen, Jr. and his wife, Kimberly; sisters, Estela Mason and Armandina Varela and her husband, Greg; and many nieces and nephews. A Rosary in Spanish will be recited at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2012, with a Rosary in English following at 6:30 p.m., at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2012, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Broussard's. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ledet Children's Educational Fund, Capital One Bank, c/o Bill Darling, P.O. Box 2751, Beaumont, Texas 77704.
