Merrell Charlton Nicholas, 62, passed away on September 10, 2012, in Houston, Texas. Born October 5, 1949, in Beaumont, Texas, Merrell, better known as Missy to many, was the sixth of eight children born to her predeceased parents: Terry Joseph Clinton, Jr. and Elizabeth Bettye Merrell Charlton. Merrell was a member of Antioch Baptist Church while growing up in Beaumont and affiliated with Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston. She was a devoted wife and mother and a dearly beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Harris County Magistrate, Ronald C. Nicholas; daughter, Darienne Carolyn Nicholas of Houston; sisters, Carolyn Charlton Lamb, Paulette Batts, Elizabeth Charlton, and Adrienne Charlton Robert, all of Houston; brothers, Terry J. Charlton, III (Desiree) of Houston and William Bill Charlton of San Diego, California; and brother and sister-in-law Henry and Carolyn Peterson of Houston. She is also survived by an aunt, Clementine Charlton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The funeral services will be at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, 3826 Wheeler Ave, Houston, Texas 77004, on Friday, September 14, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Rev Marcus D. Cosby, Senior Pastor, officiating, and Rev. William A. Lawson, Pastor Emeritus. Interment will be Monday, September 17, 2012, at 9:30 a.m., at Houston National Cemetery, 10401 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77088. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the .
