Merton (Mert) Ruddy Severinson 1923 - 2015 Merton (Mert) Ruddy Severinson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2015. He was born on October 27, 1923, in Willmar, Minnesota, to parents Myrtle Ruddy Severinson and Raymond Oliver Severinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roger Severinson, his wife Ethyleen (Ethy) McClellend Severinson, and son Daniel Merton Severinson. He is survived by sons Mark Raymond Severinson and his children Jordan, Logan, and Emma Severinson and David Calvin Severinson and his wife Jennifer Severinson, all of Austin, Texas, and daughter-in-law Karon Jones of Lumberton, Texas. Mert is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews living throughout the U.S. Mert served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant piloting PBY Catalina bombers in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Following the war, he completed his B.S. degree and earned a Master of Arts degree in psychology at the University of Minnesota. He worked most of his life as a federal employee with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Department of Energy, and the Federal Home Loan Bank Board in Washington D.C. After his retirement, Mert and Ethy enjoyed traveling the world and relaxing with close friends and family at their beach house on the Texas Gulf Coast. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 1350 N. 23rd St., Beaumont, Texas. Visitation with family members will follow the service.
