Nelson Joseph Gaspard, 81, of Port Acres passed away at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas on Saturday, December 15, 2012. He was born on October 8, 1931 to Lucille Hargrave Gaspard and Lozan Gaspard in Kaplan, Louisiana. Nelson lived in LaBelle for 3 years and has been a resident of Port Acres for over 54 years. He retired from Sabine Towing and Transportation Company as yard operations supervisor after 35 years of service. Nelson was a member of St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church. Nelson is survived by his loving wife, Elnora Frances Gaspard of Port Acres, Texas, daughter, Donna Gayle Landreth and husband Grady of Groves, Texas, five sons, Nelson J. Gaspard, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Port Acres, Texas, Walter Allen Gaspard and wife Carol of Magnolia, Texas, Jerry Lynn Gaspard and wife Patricia of Kirbyville, Texas, Tommy James Gaspard and wife Carol of Port Acres, Texas, Bobby Joe Gaspard and wife Susan of Tomball, Texas along with 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters, Diane Guidry and husband Russell, Rose LeMaire and husband Wade all from Cow Island, Louisiana, Jeanette Hargraves and husband Pierre, Lorraine Breaux all from Kaplan, Louisiana, two brothers, Allen Gaspard and wife Shirley, Prentice Gaspard and wife Rose all from Cow Island, Louisiana as well as several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister and a grandchild. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church with Rev. Rejimon E. George serving as celebrant. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors.
