Oscar Kyle Baxley, Jr., 84, of Beaumont, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on November 19, 1928, to Nannie Belle Baxley and OK Baxley, Sr. A native Beaumonter, Oscar met and married his wife, Jerry, in 1956. He worked at Gulf States, and for many years at his beloved Lamar University as Vice Chancellor for Finance. Oscar was a faithful and active member as well as Deacon at Calder Baptist Church for many years where he raised his family up to know the Lord. In retirement, he enjoyed taking trips with his wife, spending time playing golf, and fishing with his friends. He was a devoted grandpa who loved to spend time with his grandkids. Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Jerry Baxley; son, William Baxley and his wife, Rena; daughters, Cindy Landry and her husband, Gary and Debbie Stevens and her husband, Grant; grandchildren, Kyle Baxley and his wife, Tracey; Ken Baxley; Travis Landry; Brooke and Reece Stevens; and Josh Landry and his wife, Janna, and their children, Michael and Catie. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Nelda Fae Smith. A gathering of Mr. Baxley's family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Calder Baptist Church, 1005 North 11th Street at Harrison Avenue, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
