1931 - 2015 Patricia Pat Muldoon Embs was born on January 18, 1931, in Louisville, Kentucky, and died peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2015. Pat married Elmer Embs in May 1952. Elmer truly was the love of her life, and during their sixty years of marriage she devoted herself to making a home and raising a family with him. Pat followed Elmer literally around the world, with three small children in tow, while he worked for DuPont at chemical plants in Louisville, Kentucky; Wilmington, Delaware; Londonderry, Northern Ireland; and Tokyo, Japan. In 1963, they settled permanently in Beaumont. Pat stressed the importance of self-reliance and the pursuit of excellence to her children. She took an active interest in their educations, serving on numerous committees at St. Anne's School and Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School and as PTA president at Marshall Junior High. She attended too many school programs and sporting events to count. She and Elmer regularly volunteered to chaperone school dances and CYO events, often to the horror of their teenaged offspring! No matter what her outside commitments, Pat always had a hot meal on the table for her family every evening. The youngest child of a large Irish Catholic family, Pat's faith was a very important part of her life and helped carry her through her three bouts with cancer and Elmer's six year struggle with Alzheimer's disease. An active parishioner of St. Anne Catholic Church for over fifty years, she served on the parish council and as a member of St. Anne's Ladies, the bereavement committee, 49+ Group, and the Catholic Adult Organization. Pat is survived by daughters, Susan Embs Cohen and her husband, Brian; Linda Embs LeBlanc and her husband, Antoine; and Kris Embs Montalbano and her husband, Johnny, whose loving care allowed Pat to remain in her own home surrounded by family during her illness; daughter-in-law, Karen Ferguson Embs; sister, Margaret Muldoon Mulligan; twenty grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Embs; and son, Steve Embs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, P.O.
