Patrick Dan Pat Henry, 72, of Kountze, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. Pat was born on January 19, 1941, in Beaumont, to Mozelle McGuyer Henry and William R. Bill Henry. He was raised in Beaumont and graduated from South Park High School in 1959, then went on to attend Lamar University where he studied a variety of subjects. Pat was a widely respected and successful business man who achieved so much throughout his lifetime. His career began to unfold by the Gulf of Mexico when he started out as a hand on a shrimp boat, quickly learning the ropes of the shrimping business enough to obtain his Captains license, buy two of his own boats, and eventually open his own fish house, Port Bolivar Fisheries, Inc., in 1975. He was also a member of the Texas Shrimpers Association and a member of the Masons. He found the perfect balance when he bought a Texas longhorn ranch in Honey Island where he raised registered longhorn cattle. He obtained his pilots license and began to fly back and forth from the beach to the Big Thicket in his personal plane. He owned and operated his business for over thirty years, residing on the Bolivar peninsula with his, then wife, Carol, and their daughter, Kristina Jean. However, being the avid hunter that he was, he would spend every deer season from October-January out at the deer lease in West Texas. The years of hard work paid off for Pat when he was able to achieve his lifelong dream to retire in the snowy mountains and purchased a gold mining proper in Lewiston, Montana. He loved the scenic beauty of the mountains and serenity of nature. Throughout his lifetime, Pat has a variety of interests from beekeeping and extracting honey to bottling homemade wine. He truly enjoyed every aspect of life and loved the challenges life would bring. Survivors include his daughter, Kristina Jean Henry; four year old granddaughter, Jaylee Nichole Henry; brother, Rowe Henry; nephew Billy Henry; and twelve year old great- nephew, Omar Rowe Henry. A gathering of Mr. Henry's family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Broussard's, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. His committal was held at Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont. Complete and updated information may be found at broussards
