1920 - 2014 Quincy Buck Buckalew, passed away on September 7, 2014 in Groves, Texas. He was born in San Augustine, Texas on November 20, 1920 to Walter Robert and Margaret Lark Buckalew. Quincy was the youngest son of ten brothers and sisters who grew up in Hardin County, Texas during the Great Depression. In 1940, he joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country as a Drill Sergeant during World War II. Buck, as he was affectionately known to friends and family, married the love of his life, Laura Garcia in Beaumont in 1947. They eventually moved to Port Arthur where they raised their two sons, Ted and Robert. He worked at Texaco Refinery until his retirement in 1982. Buck and Laura had a passion for travel and spent their retirement years driving thousands of miles across America enjoying the scenic beauty of our great land. With a great sense of humor, an easy-going style and a lifelong positive attitude about living, Buck shared his laughter and his love for others everywhere he went. He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Garcia Buckalew. Survivors include his two sons, Ted Goodell and wife Jeanie of Vidor, Robert Bob Buckalew and wife Amanda of Austin, and six granddaughters, Amy Amacker and husband Larry, Erin Henry and husband Marc, Michelle Crofoot and husband David, Karyna McGlynn, and Zoe and Anna Buckalew, five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews including Donna Landry and husband Frank, who gave so much of their time caring him in his later years. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, the Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm. Funeral Services will be celebrated Friday, September 12, 2014 in the Chapel of Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Rite of Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
