Dr. Bob, as he was known to his friends, was born on December 14, 1937, in New Orleans, LA, the first child of Francis B. Blackstone and Ann Dorothy McMillen Blackstone. He grew up in Port Sulfur , LA, and following high school graduation, he went on to study at Rice University and Florida State University, where he earned a doctorate in chemistry. A faithful Christian, Bob worshipped at Christian Fellowship Worship Center, and prior to that, at Cathedral in the Pines. He participated actively in Christian outreach, assisting in leadership of the single adult ministry and caring for orphans in the former Soviet Union. He is remembered by all who knew him for his kindness, stability, intelligence, and insight. He is survived by Stephanie Blackstone, his wife of 25 years; two sisters, Mary Ann Phillips of Bastrop, LA and Sally Stewart of Houston, TX, and one brother, Bill Blackstone of Natchez, MS; four children, Richard Blackstone of Beaumont, Rebecca Fincher of Elkhart.
