1930 - 2016 A celebration of Robert Coker's life, age 85, of Jasper, will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 20, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. A native and lifelong resident of Jasper, he was a member of Peachtree Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Jasper High School. Robert was self-employed as an owner of Byerly-Coker Motor Company when he became Vice-President of First State Bank in Jasper. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mable Coker; sons, Robert Coker Jr. of Houston, TX, and Gary Coker and wife Kim of Beaumont, TX; brothers, James Coker and wife Nelda of Jasper, TX and Roy Coker and wife Betty of Lumberton, TX; sisters, Ima Jean Mc Murtry and husband Bill of Ardmore, OK and Betty Suri and husband Bobby of Beaumont, TX; three grandchildren, Lindsey Gladden and husband Douglas, Dr. Matthew Coker and wife Candice, Kyle Coker and wife Lauren and great-grandchild Katelyn Gladden. He was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Connie Coker and a brother Carl Coker.
