Robert Bob G. Latiolais I, 71 of Newton, TX died on April 28, 2012 at Shady Acres Nursing Home in Newton, TX. Bob was born on August 12, 1940 in Lawtell, Louisiana. His family moved to Port Arthur, Texas in 1942. Bob was a 1959 graduate of Bishop Byrne Catholic High School. He enjoyed a long career in the meat packing business. In 1973 he opened Latch's Supermarket in Newton, TX.. During the next 20 years he employed many people and made life long friends in Newton. Bobby G's Restaurant in Merryville, Louisiana was Bob's next business venture in 1994. He enjoyed visiting with all the people of Merryville. Bob was the president of Latch Oil, Inc. in Jasper, Texas. He was a great story teller and loved to entertain family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Pam Latiolais of Newton, TX, his daughter and son-in-law Patrice and Jimmy Wagstaff of Jasper, TX , grandson Robert Robby G. Latiolais III of Jasper, TX, sister Patsy Lemoine of Lafayette, LA, brother Johnny Latiolais and wife Lynn of Houston, TX, extended family Jim & Susan Wagstaff, Allison and Grayson of Macclenny, FL; Sherry & Tony DuCharme, Kevin and Dustin; Ashley & Taylor Thomas, Elizabeth of Mauriceville, TX; Charlotte & Cary Thibodeaux, Cody and Caitlyn of Sulphur, LA and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his son Robert G. Latiolais II, parents Eunice and Louis Latiolais, brothers Everett Latiolais and Dudley Latiolais. Visitation will be at Smith Funeral Home in Newton, TX, Monday, April 30th from 4 - 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be at First Baptist Church of Newton, TX, Tuesday, May 1st at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Newton City Cemetery. Father Ron Foshage of St. Michael's Catholic Church of Jasper, TX and Joe Miller, Jr., Pastor Emeritus, First United Methodist Church of Jasper, TX will officiate.
