Farmer Robert S 'Roddy' Farmer III Funeral services for Robert S. 'Roddy' Farmer III, 58, of Silsbee will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Farmer Funeral Home with Dr. Scott Moody officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 Saturday until time of service. Born in Beaumont, Roddy was a lifelong resident of Silsbee. He was a graduate of Silsbee High School, where he played basketball. Roddy attended TAMU and graduated from Lamar University and Commonwealth Mortuary College. Roddy was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Silsbee VFD and the Texas Historical Society. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Hardin County and Silsbee and loved discussions about the Kirby family and the history of the old Kirby home that housed the funeral home. He worked for R S Farmer Funeral Home for 34 years, where he served as President. Roddy loved his family and was happiest spending time with his grandchildren. Roddy was preceded in death by his mother, Exa Farmer. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rosie Farmer of Silsbee; daughter Angela Khalil of Silsbee; son Ryan Farmer of Silsbee; grandchildren Sadie Harris, Gabi Moujaes and Christian Moujaes of Silsbee; a new granddaughter on the way; father James E.'Pete' Farmer and wife Fifi of Silsbee; sister Lisa Hunt of Longview; three nieces and one nephew. Honoring Roddy as pallbearers will be R A Balla, Dennis Allen, Steve Caraway, Danny Smith, Bobby Gore and Mark Denson. Roddy always had a smile on his face and a wonderful and positive attitude about life in general. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
