Rosa Belle Matte, 82, of Port Acres, died Friday, February 22, 2013. She was born on October 9, 1930, in Church Point, Louisiana, to Ida Boudreaux Lavergne and Clovis Lavergne. She was married for sixty-two years to the love of her life, Gervais Matte. Rosa Belle enjoyed visiting with friends, crocheting, listening to music, and making people laugh. She was passionate about her Cajun cooking and loved to feed anyone who came in her kitchen. Rosa Belle was a devoted mother to her three children and a loving grandmother to her eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Matte Daigle and her husband, E.J., of Taylors Landing and Sherry Matte Vines and her husband, Jeff, of Port Acres; son, Keith Matte and his wife, Dana, of LaBelle; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grand- children; sisters, Bernice Schexenider of LaBelle, Dioris Thibodeaux of Port Acres, and Etheline Lavergne of Baton Rouge. Rosa Belle is preceded in death by her husband, Gervais Matte; parents; and sisters, Agnes Smith and Eva Mae Benoit. A gathering of Mrs. Matte's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Broussard's, 505 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at St. Therese the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church, 6412 Garnet Avenue, Port Acres, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
