Rose Marie Murphy, 89, of Beaumont, passed Monday, April 22, 2013, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. A native of Beaumont, she was born on December 27, 1923, to Kay Grillo Mazzagatti and Dominic Mazzagatti. She was a devoted wife to her husband Charles, whom she lost in 2011. Rosie was a homebody who loved cooking, Tennessee Ernie Ford (He's Got the Whole World in His Hands), all things cozy and homespun, waffles (never pancakes), rigatoni (never cappellini), cold weather, whodunnits, and good bread. She and Charles adopted their kids from a German orphanage. Bob and Brenda attended Assumption School, where Rose pitched in at the church office, later continuing her volunteer work at Our Mother of Mercy. She was a giver with a generous but feisty spirit. Rose leaves behind daughter, Brenda Murphy of Beaumont; son, Robert Murphy and his wife, Leigh, of Alpine; grandson, Taylour Murphy of Alpine; sister, Frances Kushner and her husband, Joe, of Beaumont; sister-in-law, Cora Mazzagatti of Miami, Florida; nieces, Beth Nelson of Austin and Ginger Wood and her husband, Clarence; nephew, David Kushner and his wife, Carolyn, of Katy; and many other loving and treasured nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Rosary for Rose will be recited at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 4445 Avenue A, Beaumont with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
