June 20, 1945- April 24, 2014 Roy Clinton Drake After a three year battle with bone marrow disease God saw that he was tired and took him home. He left this life and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 24, 2014. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Roderick Murrah Drake and Mae Belle Powell Drake, and brother Robert Carl Drake. He is survived by the love of his life for 43 years, Kathryn Candy Drake, children, Amy and husband Calvin Williford, Alan and wife Michele Drake, and Angela and husband Chris Slaughter. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, Hannah and Steven Williford, Baylee and Audrey Drake, Kieran, Ryan, Zoe Dunn, Chris Jr. and Ian Slaughter; and one great granddaughter, Emma Lee Williford and soon arriving great- grandson, Walker Wayne Williford. Roy is also survived by his sisters Simuel Lee Ard of Silsbee, and Barbara Osburn and husband Kenny of Vidor, Texas; brothers: George Arthur and wife Bobbie Jean Drake of Silsbee; Harold and wife Jean Drake of Tarkington, Texas; Harvey and wife Sissy Drake of Hull, Texas; Johnny and wife Carol Perry of Paris, Texas. Roy was a 1963 graduate of Spurger, Texas and served in the United States Army from 1963-1967 during the Vietnam Era. He was employed with Exxon-Mobil for 28 years and served as Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 in Tyler County Texas for 24 years. Roy was affiliated with the Snow River Lodge#385 of Spurger, Texas and he faithfully served his community through the Lions Club and Gideon's International. His two greatest joys were building churches through the Assembly of God MAPS program and sharing his many vegetables he grew each year. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Pleasant Hills Children's Home and The Assembly of God MAPS Program. A gathering of Mr. Drake's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Wiley Mae Pentecostal Church, Highway 92 North, Silsbee, under the direction of Broussard's, Silsbee. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the church, with interment to follow at Franks Branch Cemetery, Fred. Complete and updated information may be found at
