1940-2015 Russell Rene Brent, age 75, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on June 4th at Laurenwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Duncanville, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Russell was born in Beaumont, on March 27, 1940 to Loretta Elizabeth Jacobs Brent and Russell Morrison Brent. He graduated from Beaumont High School in 1958 and attended Texas A&M at College Station until 1963. Russell was well known as a skilled sportsman, avidly hunting and fishing the marshes, lakes, and streams of his home state of Texas and beyond. Throughout his life, he embarked on a wide variety of entrepreneurial endeavors, but retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after serving as a prison guard and translator. Russell is survived by his daughters Kimberlee Brent, Rose Mary Brent, April Brent Owen, and Jacquelyn Brent Ballard, his brother Robert J. Brent, and seven grandchildren; Cader Briscoe, Luke & Daniel Owen, Littie, Timothy, Rebekah, and Mary Ballard. A memorial service will be held at Taylor's Bayou in October.
