1940 - 2014 Saundra Sue McLaren, age 73, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014. She was born to Susan Isabell Fox and Louis Ernest Humphrey on October 16, 1940 in San Angelo, Texas. A polio survivor in the 50's, Saundra would struggle with her health the remainder of her days. She was so loving, a great friend who never met a stranger, and everyone's mother. Saundra lost her soul mate, husband and best friend, Jerry, to cancer in 2001. Saundra was a Facebook queen and also enjoyed playing games on her computer. Her daughter, Lauren, and grandkids were her everything. Maw Maw loved playing board games with her grandchildren. As a proud Maw Maw, she would always shower the grandchildren with gifts and neat things. She always made sure to let them know how much she loved them. Her sister, Judy, and she had a special bond as well. Over the last several years they were able to spend quite a bit of time together enjoying travel and vacations together. Left to honor her memory are her daughters, Lauren Sue Walker and husband, Gary, of Lumberton, TX and Helen Denise McLaren of Richmond, TX; grandchildren, Casandra, Corey and Cade Walker; great grandchildren, Grae and Gavin Matthews; sister, Judy Yager and husband, Rick, of Holly Lake Ranch, TX; sister-in-law, Peggy Thigpen and husband, John of Jacksonville TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding Saundra in death were her precious husband, Jerry McLaren; and her parents. To the staff of Pine Arbor Nursing Home, our sincere thanks appreciation for the love, compassion, and care given to Saundra while she was there. Also, during the final days, sincere appreciation to Odyssey Hospice. Visitation with family and friends will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring Saundra's life will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at the funeral home, with Rev. Dickie Parrott officiating.
