1924 - 2015 Sophie Jane Lipscomb 90, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on February 6, 2015. Sophie was born to Verna and John Novak on February 19, 1924 in Houston, Texas. Sophie was a parishioner of Saint Ambrose Catholic Church and lived in the Garden Oaks area for over 40 years. She was retired from the Houston Chronicle Classifieds after more than 25 years of dedicated service. She survived colon cancer and multiple life challenges while fully embracing the spirit of life. Sophie is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Leona Petru and John L Novak as well as her beloved son David Lipscomb. She is survived by her brother William Novak Sr, sister Williemae Meaux, daughter Tina Lipscomb, daughter in law Robi Lipscomb, grandsons, David Michael Lipscomb Jr, Dale Lipscomb and 4 great grandchildren. She also has numerous nieces and nephews, especially Tammy and Tony Landry, Tommy Novak, and Will Novak who were very special on her journey in life. She will be remembered by all as a woman who still danced at every wedding until the day she died. A visitation will begin Sunday February 8 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Pat H. Foley Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 5:00 PM. Funeral services will begin on Monday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday February 10, at 11:00 AM in Beaumont, Texas at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Honor of Sophie and her son, David to the .
