Syble Ray Obituary

Syble Moore Ray, 96, of Beaumont, died Monday, September 26, 2011, at Jefferson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born June 15, 1915, in Venetia, Texas, to Maggie Catherine Johnson Thompson and Charles Elliott Thompson, she was the youngest of six children. At the age of nineteen, she came to Port Neches to find work, then met and married her husband, John Lee Moore; together, they had four children. She was a hostess for the King Edward Hotel, and a sales representative for Avon and Sarah Coventry Jewelry. Syble was a member of Dawndale Baptist Church; as she grew older and in failing health, she enjoyed watching the preaching and singing on various religious television channels. Her family will remember her as a wonderful wife, mom, grandmom and great-grand- mom. A special thanks to Larry and Beverly Walker, whose friendship and loving support has been very helpful to our family; Mother considered Beverly and Ronnie Buchanan as part of the family. Survivors include her three children, Delores M. Webb and her husband, Tracy, of Beaumont, John Larry Moore and his wife, Gail, of Lumberton, and Sherry Wanca and her husband, Bill, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Donna Moore and her companion, Tracey, of Pearland, Marcie Morgan and Paige Morgan, both of Beaumont, Kenneth Tracy Webb, Jr. and his wife, Juanita, of Friendswood, Lisa Moore of Lewisville, Adam Moore of Silsbee, Neisa Moore of Beaumont, Syble Renee Moore of Austin, and Emily McMillon and Riley McMillon of Lumberton; great-grand- children, Athena Haley Morgan of Beaumont, Kenneth Trey Tracy Webb, III of Friendswood, Aaron Thompson of Pearland; two nieces, Margie Wilbanks and Allyne Cook and her husband, Richard, of Waco; four nephews, Roy Thompson and Larry Dean Thompson, and Charles Mack Hines, all of Beaumont, and Roger Ray Hines and his wife, Lobernas, of Mesquite. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Lee Moore; her second husband, Luther M. Ray; and son, Owen Kent Moore. Because of her longevity, many other loving, more distant relatives, and friends and associates also preceded her in her pathway to that Better Place. She began her New Life with a look of serenity and determination. Her graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Broussard's. Complete and updated information can be found at: broussards1889.com.
