Victoria-Barbara Boyd Rix, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. She was born on January 27, 1917 in Casper, Wyoming to the late Arthur Franklin and Ethel Maude Miller Boyd. Barbara married John Reginald Cappy Rix in 1935, and they raised their family in Beaumont. While there, her husband owned and operated Chevyland/Beaumont Motor Company and Barbara became a busy homemaker to her husband and three children. They were active members of Trinity Methodist Church. In 2000, Barbara moved to Victoria to be closer to family. She became active at her church, First United Methodist, and she also enjoyed reading, home decorating, painting, genealogy, bridge and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, Decora Club and Morning Study Club. Barbara Rix was an inspiration to all who knew her. Each and everyday, she lived with purpose, principle and a true passion for her family and friends. Barbara will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure to make her acquaintance, but there is no doubt that the angels in Heaven are rejoicing with her! In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, John Reginald Cappy Rix. Barbara Boyd Rix is survived by her sister, Mary Megee of Port Orchard, Washington; daughters, Barbara Rix of San Antonio, Sara Elizabeth Davidson and husband, Jerry of San Antonio; son, John Reginald Rix, Jr. and wife, Shelley of Victoria; grandchildren, Lynn Oliver, Katherine Schaedler, Will Davidson, Caroline Green, Courtney Velasquez, Kristin Pothast, Katelyn Rix and 17 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church. The Reverend Jarrell Sharp will officiate. After the service, words of comfort may be shared with the family in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be observed at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont.
