Violet Strat Bordes, 89, of LaBelle, died Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on October 5, 1923, to Thelma and Chris Toloudis, the only girl of six children. Strat was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. Family was the most important part of her life. She was also known for her nurturing spirit to all her children's friends better known as Momma. Violet and her family were key figures in the LaBelle-Fannett Volunteer Fire Department, working as a member of the Women's Auxiliary. She was also a member of St Mary Catholic Church, Fannett. Violet and her late husband, Roy, built and ran the LaBelle Drive In Grocery Store for many years, a key establishment on LaBelle Road. She is survived by her daughters, Lena Bordes and Diana Allen and her husband, Johnny, all of LaBelle; sons, Ronald Bordes and his wife, Rachel, of Batson and Robert Bordes, all of LaBelle; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brother, Gus Toloudis of LaBelle. Violet is preceded in death by her husband, Roy; son, Roy Nathan; parents; and four brothers. A gathering of Mrs. Bordes' family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Fannett, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
