Felps Welton Terry Felps, known by Terry, 65, of Kountze, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on November 3, 1947, in Port Arthur, to Marie Mills Felps and Welton D. Felps. He was a 1966 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School where he played football and other sports and was involved in community sports such as Little League through out his childhood and teenage years. Terry attended Lamar State College of Technology where he obtained his Journeyman Certificate of Carpentry and worked with his tools in the area for many years out of Carpenter Local 610 of Port Arthur. He later represented the Local as Assistant Business Agent until going to work with the worker assistance program that retrained laid off or displaced workers to reenter the workforce. At his death, Terry was working for Texas Workforce Commission Unemployment Insurance Division as a Field Specialist. He especially enjoyed working with the East Texas area Workforce Centers staff. It was Terrys passion to help people and he enjoyed this in both his work and in his free time. He was known for his kind and gentle manner and his encouraging spirit. Terry was an avid outdoorsman, especially having a love for deer hunting. It was his dream to support a program on the deer lease to teach young hunters the specifics of the sport. One of his fondest memories was elk hunting in Arizona with his brother-in-law, Don and nephew, John, sitting in five degree weather in the snow while listening to the bugling. Survivors include his wife, Ada Felps; daughter, Caren Beth Felps of Kountze; sister, Tammy Logan and her husband, Reverend David Logan, of Kountze; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and many friends, family, and co-workers. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Tommy Felps. A gathering of Mr. Felp's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Broussard's, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Pinecrest Baptist Church, 5660 FM 1122, Silsbee. His committal will be held at Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 Complete and updated information may be viewed www.broussards1889.com
