1926 - 2016 William Stanford Knoble, a devoted family man of the highest standards, died peacefully at the age of 89 at his home in San Antonio on March 16, 2016. Bill is survived by Betty Moore Knoble, his wife of 65 years, his sons William Moore Knoble & John Derrick Knoble, daughter Katherine Knoble Wilhelm, son-in-law, John A Wilhelm, and grandsons, James Micah Wilhelm and Stephen Michael Wilhelm. Bill was born in Helena, AK on August 26, 1926 and he grew up there. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1949 and fought in the Korean War flying 52 missions and winning the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in July 1953. After marrying Betty Moore on December 22, 1950 and completing his military service in 1953, he worked at Mobil Oil Refinery and taught math at Lamar University. In 1960 he joined Rawson & Co. and remained with them until his retirement as Sr. Vice-President in 1990. Bill took the family on many vacations and enjoyed hunting with his sons, grandsons and close friends over the years. Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, Norine Meek Knoble & William Derrick Knoble, his sister, Helen Knoble Heard, and grandson, Timothy Elisha Wilhelm. Bill will be remembered lovingly for his traits of fairness, sound advice, appreciation for quality & devotion to the family. He enjoyed his travels to Germany with Betty over the years to visit his grandsons, who will cherish the memories forever. ------------------------- A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 11:00 AM at: Leon Springs Presbyterian Church 23943 I-10 West San Antonio, TX 78257 A reception will follow in the church's fellowship hall.
